A technology of the future for
the Amazon indigenous peoples.

In order to protect their territory comprising over 240.000 hectares of rainforest, the Surui indians have resorted to use the latest technologies produced by the occidental civilisation.

"We have swapped our bows and arrows for computers and the internet!" clames chief Almir Narayamoga Surui, during a conference at the London Google headquater. "We use solar recheargable portable computers during expeditions inside our territory to fight against illegal logging. The indications we will soon get from Google Earthassociated with 21 century technology and communications will allows to be much more efficient on the field."

In the frame of a partnership with Aquaverde, Flexcell has decided to provide free of charge the photovoltaique materials needed by the indigenous tribe participating with us in the salvation of the Amazon forest.

In addition to these unique properties, Flexcell's PV foil is environmentally friendly. The electricity produced is clean and the manufacturing processes is based on abundant, recyclable materials. The energy payback of our product is 3-5 times faster than products based on conventional PV technologies.

Flexcell Flexcell (VHF-Technologies SA) is a Swiss company founded in 2000 at the Ecole d'Ingénieurs du Canton de Neuchâtel by three forward-thinking scientists and entrepreneurs, passionate about renewable energy and skilled in plasma deposition processes of amorphous silicon.

Over the past few years, Flexcell has evolved from a technology start-up to a leading-edge technology company in the photovoltaic (PV) industry.

The company manufactures flexible, thin and lightweight photovoltaic modules, using its proprietary Very-High-Frequency plasma technology to deposit thin layers of amorphous silicon onto plastic substrates.

Owing to its highly flexible PV foil, flexcell is able to deliver innovative solar consumer products (e.g. rollable battery chargers) and to provide integration solutions for the building industry (Building Integrated Photovoltaics) and industrial OEM markets.

The Company received the "Eco-Trophy" from the city of Lausanne in 2004 and the "CTI-Start-up" Award from the Swiss Federal Department of Economy in 2000 as acknowledgement of its leading position in the innovation and industrialisation of renewable energies.
